François Dufaux
Université Laval, Canada
Mr. Dufaux received his bachelor's degree in architecture from Laval University, followed by a master's degree in urban planning from McGill University and a doctorate in architecture from the University of London. The professional path arises between practice and theory, between the general considerations related to the architectural project, including that of the practice of the profession, and the particular challenges of each project between the financial, legal, technical, compositional issues and program. He has a particular interest in the heritage and history of architecture in Quebec, and in particular in the residential tradition. This first axis structures a curiosity for the analysis of architectural and urban form, in particular through the concepts of typomorphology and spatial configuration “Space Syntax”. The historical perspective is considered a critical basis for assessing the present and the future. A similar critical approach is proposed in relation to the issues of regional planning, or professional practice, emphasizing that the nature of the expected solutions explains the recourse to the architect as designer of an effective solution.
