At the beginning of the 19th century a group of scholars, pioneers, diplomats and later foreign militants headed to the region where Koya is today and later collected and recorded their journeys in their journals and memoirs; a great deal of information about different aspects of life in the city was recorded as a result. These records are considered as vital sources for researchers and scholars who are interested in studying the city from different angles. This research is intended to analyze and study the information recorded in the aforementioned works about Koya. The first part of this study is an exploration of journeys that took place decades ago by pilgrims and scholarly travelers who headed to Koya and settled there during late 19th and early 20th century. Whereas, the second part of this paper is concerned with the geographical aspect of that city according to these sources mentioned above, the third part is a study of the political and historical aspect of Koya. The fourth and the last part of this research studies the economic and social aspects of Koya based on the information recorded in these sources.
