Professor Sabah Jassim:

Sabah Jassim has a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. from Baghdad University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Wales. He is Professor of Mathematics. He is also a visiting lecturer at City University, London, and Fachhochschule Wedel, Germany. He is Professor of Mathematics and Computation and teaches various courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. These include Image Processing, Mathematics and Algorithms. He also supervises research students in the areas of Biometrics – Authentication, Biomedical Image Analysis and Dynamic Encryption. Assoc. Prof. Francis Burns: Francis Burns earned his B.S. in Entomology and M.A. in Science Education from Ohio State University (United States), and then earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Toledo (United States). Subsequently, he taught analytical chemistry (second-year and fourth-year) and general chemistry (first-year) at Grand Valley State University and Ferris State University in the United States. Francis Burns and his wife started to travel internationally, attending International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) conferences in Turin (Italy) and Taipei (Taiwan). He traveled to Kurdistan to teach analytical chemistry at the University of Koya (2011 to 2012). In addition, he analyzed oil well waste for mercury. He returned to America after the academic year, but stayed in contact with Kurdish colleagues. Since returning to America, he taught chemistry at Diné College, which is a Native American college. Francis Burns and his students engaged in an atmospheric chemistry project funded by NASA. He is currently teaching at the University of South Carolina, Salkehatchie. Francis Burns has just started an environmental mercury research program to study mercury contamination in the Ace Basin watershed. Francis Burns has continued his global travels, including the 2nd African Conference on Research in Chemical Education South Africa held at the University of Venda (South Africa). He welcomes the opportunity to return to Kurdistan and meet more scholars from this area of the world.

Peofessor Jamal R. Ameen:
Jamal Ameen obtained a BSc in Mathematics and an MSc in Mathematics/Statistics from Baghdad University and his PhD in the field of Bayesian Modelling and Forecasting from the University of Warwick, UK. After the completion of his PhD, Jamal returned to Kurdistan during the Iran-Iraq war and worked for nine months in Salahaddin University, Erbil, Iraq until the university was closed for participation in the war at which time, he left to Iran and ended up in a Refugee Camp in south of Iran with his family. During that period, the University of Warwick managed his return to the UK during the first quarter of 1987. Since then, Jamal worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Warwick and also began working for Unilever as a Research Scientist for about eight years where he developed new techniques and tools for market analysis, including advertising, promotional and pricing activities. For part of that period Jamal was also a visiting lecturer at Liverpool University. Since the start of 1994, Jamal joined the University of Glamorgan (Now South Wales University) as a Senior Lecturer within which period, he has successfully directed/supervised fourteen PhD students and five MSc students all within their time frames and in areas of statistical modelling, accounting, finance, engineering, economics and healthcare. He was awarded his professorship in statistical modelling in June 2011. While remaining on unpaid leave at South Wales University, Jamal started working at the Ministry of Planning, Kurdistan Regional Government at the special request of both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Planning as a Senior Advisor to support statistical services in the Kurdistan Region since July 2016. For the past ten years, he has been working as a Senior Advisor to the Minister of Planning and one of the advisory members of the Economic Council headed by the Prime Minister of KRG and often represented Kurdistan Region in a number of key projects like the Public Distribution System, The Poverty Reduction Strategy, The Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as examples and worked with The World Bank and all United Nations organisations on projects for Kurdistan and Iraq. He has been awarded a gold medal from The House of Representatives, Iraqi Federal Government and a trophy from The World Bank for his active contributions in a five year Poverty Reduction Strategy for Iraq and Kurdistan Region. He joined The University of Kurdistan Hawler on the 20th of July, 2016.


Professor Salah I. Yahya:
Salah I. Yahya is a Professor, joined the department of Software Engineering at Koya University in 2010. He has a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, M.Sc. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Ph.D. degree in Communication and Microwave Engineering. He is a Consultant at the Iraqi Engineering Union. Prof. Yahya has many scientific publications; (20) Journal Articles and more than (35) conference papers. He is a senior member of the IEEE-USA,member of AMTA-USA, member of SDIWC-Hong Kong, and Associate Researcher Fellow at UTM Big Data Center, Malaysia. Dr. Yahya is a regular reviewer of the Electromagnetics Academy, Cambridge, USA, PIERS Journals publications, since 2009, Science and Engineering of Composite Materials journal and International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, as well as, a regular reviewer of SDIWC conferences. He is the Executive Editor of ARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, indexed by Thomson Reuters, and The Editor of more the (7) other scientific Journals. His h-index is (7). During his work as the Iraqi delegate at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva-Switzerland, he participated more than (100) workshops, conferences and thematic meetings that organized by the ITU.
